🎉 IWCF Level 3 Well Control Training Brisbane – Calum McMillan’s Derrickhand Success Story
This week marked a special milestone at WellEngIQ, we had the honour of training our very first derrickhand candidate in our IWCF Well Control Level 3 training program in Brisbane.
We’ve all heard how challenging IWCF Well Control certification can be for derrick-level candidates, especially on the Well Servicing side. But Calum McMillan proved that with determination, preparation, and the right mindset, anything is possible.
💪 Rising to the Challenge
Calum shared that he’d been thinking about enrolling in this course for years. There’s plenty of talk in the patch about how tough well control training can be, but Calum arrived with quiet confidence and a clear goal.
Coming from a well servicing rig that runs underbalanced well interventions, much of the syllabus was new to him. But he:
- Listened intently during every session
- Filled notebooks with detailed notes
- Spent hours each night working through homework
- Focused on truly understanding each concept
🏆 A Well-Earned Success
The result? Calum completed the week with flying colours — not just earning his certificate, but gaining a deep understanding of well control fundamentals and the critical role he plays in keeping his rig, his crew, and the wider industry safe.
When he heads back to the rig on Tuesday, he’ll carry with him:
- IWCF Level 3 certification
- Confidence in well control fundamentals
- Knowledge that he can pass onto his crew mem
👏 Congratulations, Calum
We couldn’t be prouder of Calum’s achievement. His story is a reminder that IWCF Well Control Training in Brisbane isn’t just about passing an exam — it’s about building capability, confidence, and leadership in the field.
Congratulations, Calum — you’ve earned this. The future’s bright for you, mate.
