Course Overview

Our IWCF Well Control training in Brisbane, covers both Level 3 (Driller) and Level 4 (Supervisor) certifications, both Surface and Subsea, tailored for drilling crew, wellsite supervisors, and office-based personnel involved in critical decision-making.

Delivered over five days, the course blends engaging presentations, group discussions, and hands-on simulator training to reinforce key well control principles. Level 3 focuses on kick detection and shut-in procedures, while Level 4 builds on this foundation with deeper emphasis on formation pressures, well integrity, and supervisory responsibilities. Upon successful completion, candidates receive a globally recognised IWCF certification valid for two years.

IWCF Level 3 / sureface & Subsea

Driller Well Control

The IWCF Level 3 Driller Well Control (surface & subsea) course is designed for Drillers and Crew Members responsible for detecting well control issues and responding effectively. Candidates will learn to identify kick warning signs, react to positive indicators, and perform well shut-in procedures using internationally approved methods.

 

This program reinforces fundamental well control principles, incorporating key API Standards and internationally recognized procedures essential for safe and effective drilling and workover operations.

IWCF Level 4 / Surface & Subsea

Supervisor Well Control

The IWCF Level 4 Supervisor Well Control (surface & subsea) course is tailored for wellsite supervisors and office-based personnel involved in geological and engineering decision-making. Building on the Level 3 curriculum, this program expands on the supervisory responsibilities in well control, surface pressure gauge interpretation, and well kill methodologies.

 

Candidates will gain a deeper understanding of well control procedures, focusing on formation pressures, well integrity, and critical decision-making post-shut-in.

The Level 4 Supervisor course integrates common modules with Level 3 Driller training, ensuring a cohesive learning experience while emphasizing the expanded responsibilities of supervisory personnel. 

IWCF Certification Requirements

Candidates who successfully complete the program will receive an IWCF certification valid for two years from the issue date. To pass, candidates must achieve a minimum score of 70% in the following assessments:

What do you need to bring?

Candidates are encouraged to bring their own scientific calculator.

Candidates will need to bring lunch or alternatively there are some excellent spots for lunch, a short walk away.

Carparks: We have 4 car parks at Ashtan Place plus ample on the street parking. Lunch breaks: 12.30 to 1pm daily.
