WellEngIQ Training

Specialist Drilling Training

Practical drilling training built for real operations

At WellEngIQ, our Drilling Training programs are designed to build real operational capability — not just theoretical knowledge or certification completion.

We focus on how drilling professionals actually work in the field: making decisions under pressure, managing uncertainty, and applying engineering fundamentals to live well conditions.

This is training built by drilling professionals, for drilling professionals.

Industry Certification

IWCF Well Control Training

Industry-standard well control training focused on barrier management, pressure control principles, and operational response.

Delivered in a way that connects theory to real drilling operations.

Advanced Drilling

Extended Reach Drilling (ERD)

Advanced training covering the engineering and operational challenges of ERD wells including:

Delivered in partnership with Iain Hutchison from Merlin Energy Ltd and built on extensive global ERD experience.

This is where engineering understanding becomes decision-making ability.
Our Approach

What Makes Our Training Different

Most drilling training focuses on passing assessments.

We focus on building operational competence.

Our programs develop the ability to:

Corporate & Team Training

Scenario-Based Drilling & Completions training

Practical, discussion-led training built around real operational events.

This is where engineering understanding becomes decision-making ability.

Participants work through realistic drilling scenarios involving:

  • unexpected pressure behaviour
  • wellbore instability
  • equipment limitations
  • drilling dysfunctions
  • operational decision points

Damir Bajrovic

Chartered Engineer | Senior Drilling Engineer | IWCF Well Control Instructor & Assessor

Damir Bajrovic is a highly experienced drilling and wells professional with more than 15 years of international experience across Australia and Europe. His background spans across complex well designs including extended reach drilling (ERD), multilaterals, highly deviated S-shape, HPHT.

Damir has worked in senior engineering and operational roles with leading operators including, Origin Energy, Vermilion Energy and Tamboran Resources Corporation, delivering technically challenging exploration, appraisal and development wells across Germany, the Netherlands and Australia.

His operational experience includes the successful execution of extended reach and HPHT gas wells, advanced well integrity management, early kick detection strategies, drilling optimisation and the deployment of novel drilling technologies. Damir has led drilling engineering design, rig commissioning, risk assessments, DWOP processes and regulatory engagement with government technical authorities in multiple jurisdictions.

Prior to co-founding WellEngIQ Pty Ltd, Damir worked extensively in drilling engineering and well control training roles, including as an IWCF Assessor and IADC WellCAP Instructor. He has trained and mentored drilling personnel, engineers and wellsite leaders across both classroom and operational environments.

His qualifications include:

Scott Andrews

Well Control Instructor | Rig Manager | Drilling & Completions Specialist

Scott Andrews brings more than 17 years of hands-on drilling, completions and well operations experience across Australia’s oil and gas sector. His career has spanned operational, supervisory and HSE leadership roles throughout Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia, working across both conventional and unconventional projects.

Having progressed from Leasehand through to Rig Manager, Scott offers students practical, real-world insight gained from operating and supervising complex drilling campaigns, well control operations and rig commissioning projects in some of Australia’s most challenging environments.

Scott has extensive experience in drilling directional and vertical oil and gas wells, well integrity operations, completions, rig commissioning, safety systems and crew leadership. He has worked with leading operators and contractors including Santos, Arrow Energy, Buru Energy, Drilling Industries Australia and Mineral Resources.

Alongside his operational expertise, Scott is passionate about mentoring and developing personnel, with previous experience conducting onsite training and competency development for drilling crews and rig teams. His background is further strengthened by a Bachelor of Education, giving him the ability to combine industry experience with effective, practical instruction in the classroom.

Scott’s practical, approachable teaching style helps students connect technical well control concepts with real operational scenarios from the field.
